The Role

Role and Responsibilities of the Job:

Installation and configuration: Installing DB2 database software on the target environment and configuring it according to the organization's requirements.

Database creation and management: Creating and managing DB2 databases, including defining database schemas, tables, indexes, and other database objects.

User management: Creating and managing user accounts, roles, and permissions within DB2 to control access and security.

Backup and recovery: Implementing backup strategies for DB2 databases, performing regular backups, and ensuring the ability to restore databases in case of failures or data loss.

Basic troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving basic issues related to DB2 database operations, such as connectivity problems, performance issues, or data integrity concerns.

SQL scripting: Writing and executing SQL scripts to perform data manipulation, database administration tasks, and generate reports.

Performance monitoring: Monitoring database performance metrics, such as query response times, resource utilization, and transaction throughput, and reporting any anomalies or performance bottlenecks.

Log analysis: Reviewing and analyzing database logs to identify errors, warnings, or other issues that may affect the database operation or performance.

Patch and fix management: Applying patches, updates, and fixes to DB2 software as required to maintain security and stability.

Database security: Implementing security measures for DB2, including user authentication, authorization, and encryption of sensitive data.

Database monitoring tools: Configuring and utilizing monitoring tools for DB2 databases to track performance, diagnose issues, and generate alerts.

Data integrity and recovery: Ensuring data integrity and implementing recovery procedures in case of database corruption or data loss.

Database optimization: Analyzing query execution plans, identifying performance bottlenecks, and making recommendations for optimizing SQL queries and database performance.

Database monitoring and alerting: Setting up monitoring solutions to track database health, performance metrics, and disk space utilization. Configuring alerts to notify administrators of critical events or threshold breaches.

Database replication: Configuring and managing database replication mechanisms, such as IBM's High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR) , to ensure data redundancy, failover capabilities, and disaster recovery.

Database version upgrades: Planning and executing database version upgrades, including assessing compatibility, performing testing, and ensuring a smooth transition to the new version.

Database security audits and compliance: Conducting security audits, vulnerability assessments, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and organizational security policies.

Performance tuning and query optimization : Collaborating with application developers and database performance teams to identify and resolve complex performance issues, optimize SQL queries, and improve overall database performance.

Disaster recovery planning and testing: Participating in the development and testing of disaster recovery plans for DB2 databases, including failover, backup, and recovery procedures.

Troubleshooting and incident management: Investigating and resolving database-related incidents, analyzing error messages, and providing timely resolution or escalation to higher-level support teams.

Data migration and data loading: Assisting with data migration tasks, such as importing/exporting data, transforming data formats, and loading data into DB2 databases.

Database performance reporting: Generating performance reports, capacity utilization reports, and other database-related metrics for management and stakeholders.

Collaboration and knowledge sharing: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, developers, and system administrators to troubleshoot issues, share best practices, and provide support and guidance.

Data archival and purging: Implementing strategies for archiving and purging old or unused data to optimize database storage and improve query performance.

Database security hardening: Applying security best practices and implementing security measures to harden the DB2 database environment against potential vulnerabilities and unauthorized access.

Replication monitoring and troubleshooting: Monitoring the status and health of database replication mechanisms, diagnosing and resolving replication issues, and ensuring data consistency across replicas.

Database health checks: Performing regular health checks to identify potential issues, such as database fragmentation or index fragmentation, and taking appropriate actions to optimize database performance.

Disaster recovery drills: Participating in disaster recovery drills to test the effectiveness of backup and recovery procedures and ensure the readiness of the DB2 environment in case of a disaster.

Database auditing: I mplementing auditing mechanisms to track and log database activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.:

Proactively understand the latest information of database platform services.

· Good operational experience of data administration, with data analyst and data science exposure.

· Support database migration and deploy to its platform.

· Manage platform changes through change request process & provide status reports to the relevant parties.

· Respond promptly to incident, investigate & provide temporary &/or permanent resolution of incidents escalated. Provide timely status updates to relevant parties.

· Monitor & measure the performance & availability of platform proactively, and implement corrective actions identified to improve performance & availability.

· Monitor the agreed service level, document & maintain the configuration of platform; provide regular reporting to relevant parties.

· Ensure service level meet requirement. Propose and implement action plan when required.

· Monitor system according to standard operations procedures.

· Support platform service continuity measures, i.e., backup/restore procedures & disaster recovery plan, to ensure continuous operation of the business.

· Conduct root cause analysis & implement pro-active measures. Monitor effectiveness of implemented measures.

Provide 24x7 onsite Support.

Database server administration (DB2, ) and team management.

Good communication skills, Need to participate in client meetings.

Handle regular day to day IT Infra operations.

Break fixing of H/W and S/W issues .

Working on Service Desk tickets.

Coordinating with IT stake holders to fix the issues.

Participate in internal/external audits to showcase the IT compliance status.

Perform the IT related task and update the status higher management on regularly.

Participating in Day/Weekly status review meetings

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Experience in db2 tuning and configurations.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Minimum Background Investigation (MBI)

Who You Are

  • A minimum of 5+ years of overall experience in IT Database Domain with proveexperience in Database Operations.

Client Meetings, External Audit, Database Installation, Database Environment, Database Server Administration.

  • BE/ BTech/MCA/Diploma.
